Audi RS E-Tron GT, a new electric car with a futuristic look is planned to be presented at the end of this year, before it goes on sale in the spring of next year. However, prices have not yet been officially announced.
The performance of the car is impressive, even if it means that those recent reports about the possible installation of a three-unit engine with a capacity of 700 horsepower were erroneous. Instead, the RS e-tron GT uses the same twin-engine transmission as the Taycan Turbo S. The prototype produced slightly less power and torque than the Taycan Turbo, even though it has the same battery as the Porsche with a useful capacity of 83.7 kWh.
Other features discussed include the RS e-tron GT’s 2.3-ton curb weight and a two-speed gearbox configuration that keeps you in 1st gear up to 80 km / h before switching to a higher gear. Otherwise, the maximum speed is 250 km / h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes less than 3.5 seconds.
Audi recently held a media event dedicated to the RS E-Tron GT prototype in Greece. In addition to media representatives, the concern invited Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi to get acquainted with the all-electric car. Di Grassi drives for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler and is a one-time Formula E champion (2016/17).
“The car is fun! Obviously, this Gran Turismo is completely different from a race car. However, there are many Parallels, especially powerful acceleration that is available for a long time. With such high technology, the E-Tron GT is even more innovative in terms of cooling than my Formula e race car. The grip and accuracy in turns are certainly very impressive, ” said the driver. He also praised the RS e-tron GT for braking, which he called “strong and precisely controlled“.
